Message from Organising Co-Chairperson

Dear Colleagues and Friends

It gives me great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you to the 16th Congress of the ASEAN Society of Pediatric Surgery (ASPS) & the 3rd Congress of the Malaysian Association of Paediatric Surgery in conjunction with the 45th Annual Congress of the Malaysian Paediatric Association to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 26th to 28th September 2024.

We are delighted to host the 16th ASPS Congress in Kuala Lumpur, a landmark event uniting professionals in the realm of paediatric surgery. This congress is a testament to our collective dedication to advancing paediatric surgical care in the region and fostering collaboration across borders. The congress serves as a pivotal platform for experts, researchers, and practitioners to converge and deliberate on new developments in paediatric surgery. Our goal is to facilitate a dynamic exchange of knowledge, ideas and experiences, laying the groundwork for advancements in the field.

In a collaborative spirit, we are proud to join forces with the Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA) in conjunction with their 45th Annual Congress. This unique partnership enhances the conference’s scope, bringing together not only specialists in paediatric surgery but also professionals from various paediatric disciplines. The synergy between the ASPS and MPA promises a comprehensive and interdisciplinary exploration of paediatric healthcare.

The chosen theme, “Different Perspectives, One United Vision”, encapsulates the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose that defines this congress. As we gather to explore diverse viewpoints within the realm, we unite under a common vision – one that prioritizes the health and well-being of our children.

Our host city, Kuala Lumpur, serves as more than just a venue. This urban landscape is a cultural crossroad that will enrich our congress experience. Delegates will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Malaysian culture, further enhancing the congress experience.

Besides the excellent scientific programme, it is a great opportunity to build connections. Delegates will have the chance to interact with renowned experts, exchange ideas and establish connections that extend beyond geographical boundaries. Once again, we are fortunate to have continuous support from the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS), as we have had for many years, aiding all ASEAN countries in the field of Paediatric Surgery.

In closing, the 16th Congress of the ASEAN Society of Pediatric Surgery beckons as a forum of exploration, collaboration and unity. Thank you for being an essential part of this transformative journey. We eagerly await your presence in Kuala Lumpur this September.

Warm regards,

Dr. Mohd Yusof Abdullah
Malaysian Association of Pediatric Surgery
